SHOES:   Shoes that can glide on the floor are best.  Rubber soles usually stick; leather is better.  Dance sneakers are great to practice in.  For a milonga (the social dance), heels and straps are best for women.  Street shoes are not good for a dance floor because they can track in all sorts of things, so ~ do like the Argentinians do if you can ~ and bring shoes to change into... at least if it's raining.  At the Box Factory, it is better to wear flats, chunk heels, or sneakers that can glide.

DRESS:   It is best to wear something comfortable that you can stretch and move in for lessons.  (A change of clothes isn't a bad idea with a hefty workout on a hot summer day.)  At a milonga, you may want to look your best while still being able to move.
