SHOES:   Shoes that can glide on the floor are best.  Rubber soles usually stick; leather is better.  Dance sneakers are great to practice in.  For a milonga (the social dance), heels and straps are best for women.  Street shoes are not good for a dance floor because they can track in all sorts of things, so bring shoes to change into if you can... at least if it's raining.  At the Box Factory, it is better to wear flats, chunk heels, or sneakers that can glide.

DRESS:   It is best to wear something comfortable that you can stretch and move in for lessons.  (A change of clothes isn't a bad idea with a hefty workout on a hot summer day.)  At a milonga, you may want to look your best while still being able to move.
